Join us for the inaugural
U Invitational Charity Golf Tournament on June 9, 2026.
This marks the inaugural year of what we envision to become a cherished annual tradition, bringing together alumni, friends, and supporters to celebrate the U and give back in a meaningful way.
The U Invitational Mission
Supporting Underserved Students in the Northeast Area
The U Invitational was founded with the mission of building a self-sustaining endowment fund to provide scholarships to prospective students from underserved Northeast communities. With the rising cost of education, inflation, and increased cost of living over the past several years, the need to ensure these types of opportunities are available has never been greater. Your participation helps remove financial barriers and create lasting opportunities for future Canes.
Our goal is to reach the $1.6 million target required to fully establish the self-sustaining endowment fund within 10 years. Along the way, we plan to allocate a portion of the proceeds each year to provide scholarships as we continue building toward our long-term goal. What excites us most is that there is no limit to the number of young adults whose lives we can impact. Once established, this endowment will allow the U Invitational to provide scholarships indefinitely opening doors, changing lives, and expanding opportunity for generations of future Canes.
At its core, the U Invitational is an investment in the future of young adults.  Every dollar raised from this event will go directly to the scholarship fund. The tournament is specially designed to unite alumni, sponsors, families, and friends for an unforgettable day of golf, charity, and camaraderie. We hope you will be part of this inaugural year as we begin what we believe will become a meaningful new tradition. We look forward to building a cherished legacy through the U Invitational for many years to come.

Making an Impact
While the U Invitational is in its inaugural year, our mission is rooted in a belief that scholarships have the power to change lives. Our goal is to build a lasting endowment that will create these opportunities for students from underserved Northeast communities for generations to come.
As we begin this journey, we are inspired by the many scholarships made possible through the University of Miami and the meaningful impact they have had on students and their families. This story from Yadelin highlights a great example of that impact through a scholarship supported by the New York Canes community.
Through the generosity of alumni, supporters, and sponsors, we are laying the foundation today for a program that will open doors for future students and empower them to pursue their dreams at the University of Miami.

I am most excited to branch out of New York and experience life in a completely new environment. Being low-income and growing up in Harlem, my days were often filled with news of violence and arrests in the neighborhood I call home. As much as I love New York City, it didn’t always feel like a place where I could thrive. I often felt stuck in a cycle that was hard to escape. Coming to Miami gave me hope. Hope that I could build a better future for myself and my family, hope that I could grow beyond my circumstances, and hope that success was truly possible. The University of Miami isn’t just a school to me; It’s a symbol of opportunity and transformation. UM’s strong and supportive community has already shown me that I belong here, and that I’m taking real steps toward the life I’ve always dreamed of. Being here makes me proud, proud of how far I’ve come, and proud that I’m doing right by my family and my future.
My professional goal is to become a child and family case social worker. I want to dedicate my life to supporting children, one of the most vulnerable and often overlooked groups in society. Growing up, I saw how much a person’s environment can shape their future, and I want to be part of creating positive change in the lives of young people who face challenges similar to mine. I believe that with the right guidance, care, and access to resources, every child can flourish. Through social work, I hope to advocate for those who cannot always advocate for themselves and to make a meaningful difference in my community and beyond.
Coming to the University of Miami was my dream, my top choice since the moment I began the college process. But as a low-income student, I knew it would be financially difficult, and that I’d have to rely on my hard work and determination to make it happen. Even now, I am the one responsible for paying my tuition through a monthly payment plan because I know my parents don’t have the means to help financially. This scholarship means the world to me. It eases the financial burden I carry and allows me to focus more on my studies and personal growth instead of worrying about making ends meet. It’s not just money, it’s a reminder that people believe in my potential, that my hard work is being recognized, and that I’m not alone in this journey. I am deeply grateful for this opportunity and determined to make the most of it.
